What are Chief Engineer documentary requirements for Certification?



Certification
Reference: STCW CIRCULAR NO. 2014-13
  1. Accomplished Chief Engineer Certification Form
  2. Theoretical Examination Result (Note: A candidate who already passed the Management Level Course – Engine theoretical examination under MARINA as Second Engineer shall be EXEMPTED from this requirement)
  3. Practical Assessment
  4. Assessment of competence in Basic Training
  5. Assessment of competence in Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat other than fast rescue boat
  6. Assessment of competence in Advance Fire fighting
  7. Assessment of competence in Medical First Aid
  8. Proof of successful completion of approved MLCE, or its approved alternatives
  9. Approved seagoing service on ships of 750 kW which is not beyond 5 years ago.
    1. Class I
      • Not less than 36 months as OIC – EW on ships of 3000 kW propulsion power or more; or not less than 24 months as OIC-EW and 2E combined, if not less than 12 of such has been served as 2E on ships of 3000 kW propulsion power or more.
    2. Class II
      • Not less than 24 months as OIC – EW and 2E combined, of which not less than 12 months shall be served while holding valid COC as 2E on ships of 750 kW not exceeding 3000 kW; or not less than 60 months as OIC – EW and 2E combined on ships between 100 kW and 750 kw propulsion power, of which holding valid COC as 2E on ships of 750 kw propulsion power not exceeding 3000 kW. None, while holding valid COC as 2E on ships pf 3000 kW propulsion or more.
  1. Valid Medical Certificate, which shall not be more than 2 years from the date of issuance, from DOH-Accredited Clinic/Hospital with QSS in place, in accordance with Regulation I/9 of the STCW Convention;
