What are OIC-NW documentary requirements for examination?





Reference: STCW Circular No. 2014-08, STCW Circular No. 2015-03STCW Advisory No. 2015-21STCW Advisory No. 2015-24
  1. Accomplished OIC-NW Examination Form;
  2. Birth certificate showing that the candidate is not less than 18 years of age (NSO authenticated);
  3. Approved seagoing service on ships of 500gt or more of:
    1. Not less than 12 months as part of an approved education and training program, as Deck Cadet, Deck Apprentice, or otherwise as a trainee for certification as OIC-NW;OR
    2. Not less than 36 months in the deck department;
  4. Approved Training Record Book (TRB) as proof of onboard training that meets the requirements of Section A-II/1 of the STCW Code, if in compliance with 2.1;
  5. Daily Journal of Bridge Watchkeeping Duties (DJBWD), as proof of bridge watchkeeping duties under the supervision of the master or a qualified officer for a period of not less 180 days, or its alternative, as outlined in STCW Circular 2014-02;
  6. Valid Medical Certificate, which shall not be more than 2 years from the date of issuance, from DOH-accredited clinic/hospital with QSS in place, in accordance with Regulation I/9 of the STCW Convention;
  7. Transcript of records with S.O. Number, from an accredited MHEI, as proof of successful completion of the approved education and training program that meets the standard of competence specified in Section A-II/1 of the STCW Code, or as otherwise approved by the Administration.
