The island of Catanduanes is accessible by land, sea and air.
Going there
Air-conditioned and ordinary buses travel daily from Manila to Tabaco City (10 hrs.) where ferryboats 3 hours can take you to the Catanduanes island.
From Tabaco City, a ferryboat can take you to Virac or to San Andres Port. Trips are available daily. A Virac-bound ferry leaves Tabaco at 7 a.m. and arrives by 11 a.m. San Andres-bound ferries leaves at 5 a.m., 7 a.m., and 1 p.m. and arrives at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 3 p.m. respectively.
Alternate way
Take the RSL Bus, with a daily Manila to Virac trips. This will save you the hassle of stopping over in Tabaco City. From Tabaco City port, your bus will go onboard a roro vessel to take you to the Catanduanes Island.
At the Virac pier, there are jeepneys that can take you straight to the Puraran Beach.
Daily scheduled trips are available at the terminals in Cubao and Padre Faura in Malate and Alabang.
The fastest way take Cebu Pacific flight to Virac available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
WHAT TO RIDE FROM VIRAC TO PURARAN?
Jeepneys and vans bound for Baras are stationed at the Virac pier. Trips are scheduled between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. From Baras, a tricycle can take you to Puraran Beach. You can also take a Gigmoto-bound jeepney, bus, or and van to drop you off at Puraran. This will take 30-45 minutes of travel.
